Egypt’s climate is easy to summarize – Hot and dry. This holds for most of the country for most of the year, with the exception of the winter months of December, January, February, which can be quite cold in the north.

Average temperatures range from 20°C (68°F) on the Mediterranean coast to 26°C (80°F) in Aswan. Maximum temperatures for the same places can get up to 31°C (88°F) and 50°C (122°F) respectively.

At night in winter the temperature sometimes plummets to as low as 8°C in Cairo and along the Mediterranean coast.

Egypt Travel: Local Customs

Egypt is primarily a Muslim country and you should dress with respect for the local customs especially in the Western Desert. Brief shorts or skirts should be avoided in the towns and you should cover your head when entering a mosque.

In early summer and autumn, natural fibre clothing is most comfortable. In summer, only pure cotton clothing is recommended.

From December through March it can get quite cool, so a jacket, warm pullover and scarf may be required. In the delta area from Cairo to the Mediterranean coast it can be very cold, wet and windy in the winter months (Dec-Feb) so you will require a raincoat.

A sunhat and sunscreen are recommended for the whole country throughout the year.

Egypt Travel has been the ‘tourist attraction’ for thousands of years, and with good reason: the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx and the many other archaeological treasures, but not to be overlooked for the modern traveller are the spectacular Red Sea resorts, desert adventures and cruising the Nile.

At all times of the year, we have Egypt travel deals available to suit the budget of lovers of ancient history.

The bustling city of Cairo, home to the oldest and only remainder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the Great Pyramid of Giza, is the perfect starting point for any Egypt Travel adventure.

Wander the corridors of the Egyptian Museum where the antiquities and treasures do quite literally take your breath away.

Egypt Travel: Luxor

Luxor is a true Egyptian highlight. The Temple of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings and Queens once housed the great Pharaohs. Further south is the laid-back town of Aswan.

Attractions include the Unfinished Obelisk, Aswan Dam and the Temple of Philae. But not to be missed is the spectacular rock temple of Abu Simbel, a Pharaoh’s secret until 1813.

Red Sea resorts are a great respite from the busy cities and Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh offer underwater exploration, inland adventures with top class accommodation.

Adventure World’s ‘Glimpse of the Red Sea’ package can transport you from Cairo on a cruise down the Nile to Aswan and Luxor then to the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada, and this 10 day 4½ star tour represents exceptional value for money.

Egypt Travel Deals: When To Go

The milder shoulder season months of October/November and March/April are a good time to visit and take advantage of the deals offered by Adventure World. December to February is the peak tourist season, so be prepared for crowds during this time. May to September is extremely hot and dry.

Ramadan is the holiest month of the Muslim calendar, when all believers fast during daylight hours and is set down for 11 August 2010.
